The game certainly presents itself well, with the graphics being of good enough quality for an online game. They're nothing special, and they don't really set any precedents for online games, but they do the job well enough. While the majority of the game is in 3D (behind the shoulder drive-mode) some of the graphics do use old-school tricks such as two-dimensional sprites that are cleverly positioned and rotated to simulate the effect of a much more processor-consuming actual 3D object. Still, these don't disrupt gameplay and aren't jarring to the eye, so they pass muster. Gameplay is simple, with only the directional keys being used to navigate the race.
This can be both a bonus and a nuisance. It's a bonus in that you can just jump right in without having to learn anything about the controls. It's simple, up to go forward, down to brake, and left and right to steer.
You don't have to bother with jumps, wheelies, or any other fancy-shmancy nonsense. On the other hand, it's a nuisance exactly because you don't have any other controls, which can make driving your bike around a bit of a chore as it feels as if there isn't any real fine-control of the machine. Still, enough practice can certainly get one around this limitation and it'll be a simple matter to get to first. The AI in the game isn't anything special, and it's extremely easy to get into first and stay there. Your main competition here will actually be the course and your lack of fine control, as even though the AI isn't quite good, it'll still catch up to you if you make any serious mistakes on the course, such as getting stuck in a barn, running into a stone wall, or ramming a wooden fence and being unable to move. Still, the courses generally hold some good points, such as jumps that you would never actually attempt in real life, interesting twists and turns that make for a fun course, and the occasional chicken that you just happen to run into sending it squawking away (no animals were hurt in the production, playing, or the reviewing of this game). All in all, Motocross Country Fever is a fun enough game to kill a few minutes on.
